SAADAC Charge

The Staff Affirmative Action & Diversity Advisory Committee has the following charge:

  1. Review on an annual basis the campus Affirmative Action Plan and make recommendations regarding staff elements;
  2. Review unit affirmative action plans;
  3. Review current staff-related affirmative action programs and recommend new activities;
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of communication and educational programs regarding our affirmative action goals;
  5. Advise the campus administration regarding general employment-related policy issues;
  6. Receive communications from campus community organizations and provide recommendations regarding action plan; and
  7. Participate in the planning and offering of campus programs to increase our diversity.

Staff Affirmative Action and Diversity
Advisory Committee Guidelines

Committee Membership:

  • a Chair and Vice Chair;
  • two members from each of the campus community organizations;
  • one standing member from the largest staff administrative units (College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, and Library);
  • one rotating member from one of the following smaller administrative units (Letters and Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Research);
  • ex-officio members from the Staff Affirmative Action, EEO and Diversity Office, Employment and Outreach Services, and Office for Campus Diversity and Affirmative Action.
Member Guidelines:
  • active membership requires serving on at least one standing subcommittee;
  • three non-excused consecutive absences will result in removal;
  • responsible to communicate information to constituent group or administrative unit represented and to inform/update SAADAC on relevant activities.
Chairperson Responsibilities:
  • serves as the official committee spokesperson;
  • serves a one-year term;
  • chairs monthly and special meetings as called;
  • plans monthly agendas in coordination with committee members and staff;
  • ensures appointment and effectiveness of standing and ad-hoc committees;
  • responsible for receiving official communication and directing communication to the campus community;
  • coordinates the submission of SAADAC Annual Report for the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, Human Resources;
  • serves on any SAADAC committee in an ex-officio capacity;
  • provides regular updates and consultation to administrative liaison, Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, Human Resources.
Vice Chairperson Responsibilities:
  • serves a one-year term as Vice Chair and a second year as Chair;
  • reviews and monitors membership participation according to guidelines;
  • coordinates the filling of vacancies;
  • reviews policy drafts received from Chairperson and distributes to appropriate subcommittees for review and action;
  • acts in absence of the Chair;
  • coordinates agendas and other duties.
