Hiring Retirees - MSP Recruitments

 

A UC retired employee may return to work for a limited time provided general guidelines established by UC policy have been met. Please contact your MSP Coordinator prior to the appointment of any rehired retiree.

 

Department Responsibilities:

  • Determine if the retiree is eligible for re-employment under the terms of the Rehire of Retirees UC policy - UC Davis Policy and Procedure Manual 380-30.


  • Ensures the retiree contacts the Benefits Office to determine what effect re-employment would have on their retirement benefits.


  • Contacts the MSP Coordinator to discuss the nature of the request.


  • Prepares a position description for the duties that will be assigned to the Retiree and submits via e-mail to MSP Coordinator and Compensation/Classsification for review for appropriate salary grade level.

 

Classification/Compensation's Responsibilities:

  • Reviews the position description for appropriate classification level and reviews with the MSP Coordinator the salary requested by the department for internal equity issues, etc.

 

Department's Responsibilities:

  • Upon notification of the appropriate classification level, prepares employment contract and submits to the MSP Coordinator.

 

MSP Coordinator's Responsibilities:

  • The MSP Coordinator will review the contract, ensure that the duration of the appointment is consistent with policy, and the applicant meets the requirements for the position.


  • The department will be contacted to forward the original application, signed position description and signed Employment Contract to the MSP Coordinator. The complete packet with be given to the Senior AVC-Human Resources for approval and a signed copy of the contract will be faxed to the department.
