Workplace Flexibility
Flexible Work Arrangements The UC Davis Vision: Framework for Success states UC Davis will enhance existing programs and create new initiatives to assist in the recruitment, development and retention of the highest-quality faculty and staff. Indicators of achievement will include availability of opportunities reflecting work-life balance and gender-based issues for faculty and staff. Workplace flexibility is an organizational initiative toward that goal. Workplace flexibility defines when, where and how work gets done. It is a critical driver of well-being and performance, not an accommodation or entitlement. Flexible work arrangements include flextime, compressed workweek, telecommuting, furlough, phased return from leave, and phased retirement. Flexible work arrangements are an effective means of work life integration with positive outcomes such as improved morale, lower absenteeism, and higher productivity.
