Chancellor's Diversity Statement

We in California are an increasingly diverse population in an increasingly shrinking world. Our curricula and the faces of our constituencies must inevitably reflect these changes. That is, increasing our diversity must be part and parcel of our pursuit of excellence. More specifically, if we are to make the best possible decisions in this new world, we must have diversity around the decision-making tables, and if our world's decision-makers are to wear the face of diversity, then the pipeline, our student population, must be diverse.

To this end UC Davis reaffirms its commitment to providing equal employment opportunity, to meeting affirmative action goals and objectives, and to supporting an energetic pursuit of diversity in all its relevant actions and activities. But diversity at UC Davis cannot be only the look of the campus. It must also describe the feel of the campus. All members of all our constituencies must be comfortable and accepted in the campus milieu, in its decision-making processes, indeed in all aspects of the day-to-day business of the campus. We must, all of us, accept nothing less if we truly are to improve our quality at UC Davis.
