How to Use and Interpret U.S. Census Data

As the overall process of identifying affirmative action goals one of the factors taken into consideration is the US Census data related to our recruitment areas. The census data is collected every 10 years and outlined by occupational categories.

The data provides us with information, broken down by occupational group and county, where we would find potential applicants from underrepresented groups for our recruitments. This information can be helpful in developing strategic recruitment and advertising/marketing plans to attract qualified diverse applicant pools. This link goes to an excel file that provides the 2000 US Census data for Placer, Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo counties.
