Offer of Employment Letters
The following documents for staff appointments (non student and non academic) contain language that reflect the furlough/salary reduction program that is in effect September 1, 2009 – August 31, 2010. If the circumstance of the hire is not subject to the furlough/salary reduction program, please remove the relevant paragraphs from the document.
The staff groups and circumstances that are not scheduled to be affected by the Regents’ plan at this point are:
Police and Firefighters;
Medical Center employees;
Individuals wholly funded by certain types of grant/extramural funds;
Portions of pay that are derived from certain types of grant/extramural funds;
Foreign national employees working pursuant to H visas.
Additionally, For union-represented employees, implementation of the plan will be subject to collective bargaining agreements and all applicable laws. BACKGROUND CHECK CONDITIONAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT LETTERS
The following three letters are to be provided to finalists when:
- there is a conditional offer of employment without restrictions before the background check has cleared;
- there is a conditional offer of employment with restrictions before the background check has cleared;
- there is an offer of employment contingent upon the individual passing a background check before they start work.

The following letter is for departments to use when confirming an offer of employment in situations where a background check is not a factor as a condition of hire for non-represented employees that are subject to the furlough.
