In order to effectively administer the academic personnel process, it is critical to have a broad understanding of the academic mission, key principles and philosophies of the University of California. Participants will gain an understanding of issues such as joint governance and peer review, delegation of authority, Senate and Federation faculty roles and processes, and roles of administrators, faculty, and staff in the academic personnel process.

Note: This course is required for the Academic Personnel Administration Certificate Series and is strongly recommended as preparation for all other courses in the series.

Note: This course is also required for all Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) preparers and reviewers who work with academic personnel transactions.
