Intellectual Property at UC Davis

Last year alone:

  • UC Davis received over $750 Million in research funding from external sources;
  • Over 180 new inventions were reported to InnovationAccess by UCD inventors; and
  • UC Davis generated over $11 Million in licensing income from patent rights.

The Sponsored Programs and InnovationAccess Offices within the Office of Research work together to support the continuum of innovation at our campus – from developing a new research project with a sponsor to protecting new inventions and transferring technologies to industry partners for commercializing in the marketplace.

This course aims to explain why IP language in research agreements is important and can have implications lasting after the research project is concluded.  This course will explain your rights, as a UC employee, under UC Patent Policy, and will detail the technology transfer process for new inventions.
