  1. Q: Who is my primary contact on questions regarding my position at UC Davis?

    A: Your supervisor is the best person to speak with regarding your position at UC Davis.

  2. Q: How do I find out about parking at UC Davis?

    A: Your supervisor will be able to tell you about parking lots that are conveniently located near your new place of work. The Parking Services unit web page will outline types of parking passes, annual costs and parking locations.

  3. Q: How do I find out about my benefits at UC Davis?

    A: First of all, a comprehensive overview of benefits is given as part of the New Employee Orientation program (see schedule). Your supervisor can go over some of the information with you, most importantly that you need to enroll for your benefits within the first 30 days of your start date of employment. The Employee Benefits web page also provides comprehensive information.

  4. Q: What holidays do I get each year?

    A: See the Academic and Administrative Calendar to find all the legal and university holidays.

  5. Q: How do I get a staff card?

    A: For a staff card, see your supervisor. This is handled on a departmental basis. Your staff card can be used to show your affiliation with the University and may entitle you to discounts at campus activities, sites or stores.

  6. Q: How do I get a library card?

    A: See the Staff section of the Library Privileges web page to find out how to get your library card. Or, take your Employee Document (IDOC) and a picture ID to any University Library circulation desk.

  7. Q: How do I get a campus computing account (LoginID) and a campus email account (MailID)?

    A: See the IT Express web page for information on campus computing accounts and email accounts. You may also go to any open campus computing lab or to the IT Express office in room 182 of the Shields Library with your Employment Document (IDOC) and a picture ID.

  8. Q: How can I get a tour of UC Davis?

    A: Review the Visitor Services on-line tour registration page to schedule yourself for a walking tour of the campus. Register at least one week in advance. You can also take the campus virtual tour known as V-Tour on your own.

  9. Q: What campus privileges do I get as a UC Davis employee?

    A: Campus privileges come in many variations including discounts at the Recreation Pool, University Extension courses and Craft Center courses. Be sure to ask your supervisor and colleagues about campus privileges. You can also explore the Intranet for possibilities. Always tell campus venues that you are a UC Davis affiliate in order to qualify for any available discounts.

  10. Q: What policies and contracts affect me in my job?

    A: See your supervisor for campus and departmental policy and contract information. See the Policies and Contracts web page for general campus information.

  11. Q: What health and safety rules and regulations apply to me at UC Davis?

    A: See your supervisor and department safety coordinator for health and safety rules, regulations and practices. These are handled on a departmental basis. Campus-wide regulations are overseen by Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) department.

  12. Q: Who will tell me about the performance standards and expectations of my position?

    A: Speak to your supervisor regarding the specific performance standards and expectations for your position.
