Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview (TERO)
The Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview (TERO) is a four-hour introductory training designed for UC Davis community members who play a role in recognizing and reporting threats or observable behaviors that may raise concern. The course emphasizes community involvement in violence prevention and introduces a behavioral approach to recognizing potential warning signs while respecting privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties.
Participants will learn about risk factors, triggers and stressors, warning behaviors, and mitigating factors, as well as the importance of recognizing concerning changes in behavior and knowing where to seek assistance. The training is intended for awareness and informational purposes and does not qualify participants to independently assess or manage threats.
TERO is offered as part of a broader violence prevention and reporting partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), supporting a shared commitment to increasing awareness, strengthening reporting practices, and helping communities recognize and appropriately report concerning behaviors. The course is facilitated by experts within the UC Davis system who are Certified Master Trainers in Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management and is offered virtually on a quarterly basis.
