As previously announced, UC enhanced the Retirement and Savings Program with a new Roth after-tax contribution option for the 403b and 457b plans. As of August 1, you may elect any combination of pretax and/or Roth after-tax contributions, up to the IRS limits.

I am pleased to launch the 2024 nomination process for the Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Awards, the highest honor for a UC Davis staff member. 

Through this nomination process we will discover and celebrate staff members whose remarkable work advances the university’s mission and supports our students, employees, patients and community.

Nominations Due by February 2, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Any UC Davis employee may nominate a staff member for an Exceptional University Management or Exceptional University Impact Award. 

Over the past year, UC Davis has been actively supporting potential hires through Career Chats, one-on-one sessions with Talent Acquisition Coordinators aimed at assisting candidates in their job search journey at UC Davis.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a visionary leader whose words and enduring legacy continue to inspire, over fifty years after his passing. And while there is still progress to be made, Dr. King moved the nation forward, tirelessly advocating for a more just and equitable world.  UC Davis is consistently ranked by Forbes as a great employer for diversity, which is something that our institution is very proud of, and we acknowledge that this achievement is a result of the hard work Dr. King started and our workforce advances day in, day out.

2023 was a banner year for UC Davis in many ways, including our rise in national rankings, setting new campus records for sponsored research funding, and exceeding our annual philanthropic fundraising goal.

In August, UC Davis was honored by Forbes as a Best Employer in California for the third consecutive year both as an educational institution and for our healthcare. It's a testament to our university's thriving workplace culture, one that values diversity, competitive pay and a positive work-life balance.

 

In September 2023, UC Davis Health launched an onboarding survey to gather feedback from the hiring manager 30 days after the employee starts and at critical milestones for new hires: 30, 60, and 90 days. The Davis campus launched the same survey on December 13.

If you are being followed, here are some tips to keep you safe. 

It is now December, and it has started to get darker earlier.  Because of this, you must be more aware of your surroundings.  If you are walking by yourself, make sure to eliminate any distractions so that you make it to your final destination with no safety concerns.  However, if you happen to notice that you are being followed, here are some things you should do. 

Showing empathy during a crisis can help to de-escalate the situation.

When a person comes to the hospital, it is usually because they are experiencing physical pain, or they are there in support of a loved one who is experiencing pain or illness.  Because we do not know everything about a person, we may not know what triggers them.   

A minimum wage increase will become effective Jan. 1, 2024 for Student Assistant 2, 3, 4.
